Author's Notes: A self-look on breakfast
The sun is about to rise and we get out of bed to start our morning ritual. Whatever that is but we all know that before anything else, before going to school, to work or before starting the day we eat breakfast.
With the kind of lifestyle we have today, breakfast is such a trivial thing. Before, we leave time for it but to some of us there is no time for it. Where chewing a piece of bread and bacon or eating rice with egg takes 15 minutes out of our travel time. I could still remember the phrase "Start the day right. Eat breakfast!" It sounded like a commercial line but my mother always tell it to me. However, some people start the day right and they haven't eaten breakfast yet.
I do admit, I skip breakfast a lot. Ever since I hit college and now I'm working, eating in the morning became less and less. I would hurry down the street joining the rat race racing against time and avoiding the horrible traffic. It's an everyday occurrence. I started eating twice a day and occasional binges during weekends while surfing the net or watching movies on cable TV. I seldom eat breakfast during the weekend too. Then one day, fate invited me to the CFB. I joined and never made it out. What is CFB? Simple. Coffee for Breakfast. My full breakfast meal consisting of rice and viand has transformed into one steamy, hot, cup of coffee.
So, as the morning comes, I get up, do my morning ritual of washing my face, brushing my teeth, taking a bath and dressing up. I go to the dining room and out maid would ask, "Breakfast?"
I would simply smile and say, "Coffee please!"
And a thousand of other people would say the same in many parts of the world.
